Privacy Policy
Good Neighbor is a neighborhood favors app. It needs to know roughly where you are so it can show you tasks close enough to actually help with. That is the whole reason location appears below.
The short version. We do not sell your data. We do not advertise to you. There are no analytics SDKs, no crash-reporting SDKs, no advertising identifier and no third-party trackers in the app. We never store your device's location. You can delete your account and its content from inside the app.
What we collect

All of it is linked to your account, and all of it is used only to make the app work. None of it is used for advertising, tracking or profiling.
How location actually works
This is the part people care about most, so here it is precisely.
Your phone's GPS reading is never written to our servers, never saved to your profile and never attached to a task. Nothing we keep is derived from where your phone happened to be.
When you post a task, we geocode the address you entered to place its pin, and that pin is stored with the task. The pin reflects what you chose to write down — not where your phone was. Neighbors who can see the task can see its pin, which is how they know whether they are close enough to help. If you would rather not pin your front door, post a nearby cross-street or landmark instead.
If you grant location permission at setup, we use one reading to determine your city, state and county, and to compute a bounding box for the feed query. The coarse result is what gets stored. The reading itself is not kept.
You can decline it and type your area instead. The app works either way.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent your personal information to anyone.
- We do not share your data with data brokers.
- We do not serve ads, and there is no advertising identifier (IDFA) in the app.
- We do not embed analytics or crash-reporting SDKs.
- We do not track you across other apps or websites.
- We do not share your device's location with other neighbors, or with anyone else.
Who processes data on our behalf
These are service providers acting on our instructions. They are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes, and none of this is a sale of personal information.

What other neighbors can see
Your display name, your profile photo if you set one, your approximate area, your points and badges, and anything you post — tasks, comments, recommendations and messages you send. A task you post is visible to neighbors in the area you posted it to, including the pin for the address you entered. Tasks posted to a private community are visible only to members of that community. Your email address is never shown to other neighbors.
How long we keep things
Your account and its content are kept until you delete them. Deleting your account removes your profile, your tasks, your comments, your recommendations and your messages. Some records may persist briefly in encrypted backups before ageing out.
Deleting your account
Open the app and go to Profile → Delete Account. It happens in the app; there is no form to fill in and no email to send. If you cannot get into your account, write to support@thegoodneighbor.community and we will handle it.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal information, and to object to certain processing. Most of this is available directly in the app; for anything else, email us and we will action it.
Children
Good Neighbor is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit. Access to your data is enforced on our servers by row-level security rules rather than only in the app, so a modified client cannot read what it should not.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that materially affects you, we will update the effective date above and, where it matters, tell you in the app.
